I chose the Digital T Level mainly for the work placement because it's given me that extra boost when it comes to getting a job. And also the vast amount of topics you cover in these T Levels - already we've done so many different topics: programming, problem solving, data, hardware, networking, the list goes on.

If someone was to ask me where I wanted to go after T Levels, I would say probably programming or web development, because I'm already learning those skills and expanding my knowledge on those in the T Level.

What are T-Levels

Course Summary

This T Level is for students with an interest in technology and digital innovation. If you have an interest in coding, digital design, and development, and you aspire to work in the tech industry, this course is ideal for you. The T Level is a 2-year programme and will include a 9 week (minimum) industry placement as well as a Technical Qualification.
 

What you'll learn:

You will learn a wide range of topics including:
  • Principles of digital production and development
  • Programming and coding in various languages
  • Digital design and user experience (UX) principles
  • Data and digital systems
  • Cyber security and online safety
  • Project management and collaborative working
  • Emerging technologies and their applications
  • Industry-specific tools and software
You will develop the skills to:
  • Analyse a problem, understand user needs, define requirements and set acceptance criteria Design, implement and test software
  • Change, maintain and support software
  • Work collaboratively in a digital team Discover, evaluate and apply reliable sources of knowledge Work within legal and regulatory frameworks when developing software
  • By the end of the course, you'll have a solid foundation in digital technologies and hands-on experience in creating digital products and solutions.
 

How you'll learn

Your learning will combine classroom theory and practical learning and include 9 weeks (minimum) of industry placement.
Learning will take place through a mix of classroom-based instruction, practical workshops, and real-world projects.

On completion of the T Level you will have multiple pathways to advance your career or education. You can use this T Level to continue your education through higher-level apprenticeships or university degrees in fields such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Digital Media.
 
 

Assessment Method

Assessment for this T Level will be both practical and theoretical, ensuring you develop and demonstrate a wide range of skills and knowledge.
You'll be assessed through:
Written examinations testing your theoretical understanding
Practical assessments and project work Employer-set projects where you’ll solve real-world problems
Coursework and portfolio assessments showcasing your skills and progress
Industry placement performance, evaluated by your employer
Regular feedback and support will be provided to help you succeed and improve throughout the course.
 

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including Maths, plus English at Grade 4 or above (6 GCSEs in total). Candidates will also ideally have a clear Interest in coding.
